Music Through Time
Scope: For this web project, we had to create an entire website based on a passion we had.
We had to think of a topic, how to organize it, make sure it was appealing to the human eye, and that it fit the requirements. For my topic, I chose Music through time, because I love music and I play the violin in my high school orchestra. On the website, there are different links showing how music has grown and diversified from ancient Egypt to Present time. The website also gives insight on what kind of instruments, and in more recent time, what technology was popular to deliver music.
Process: The process for this project was fun, yet challenging at the same time. For the pre-production, most of the work was for the organization of the website, how it will all layout. The idea came from my love for music, there wasn't really any storyboarding except for the template used to organize. The actual creation pretty simple to create as the technical was already taken care of, so it really was only adding features to make it pretty. The post work was refining the website, to make sure there weren't mistakes.
Experience: This was definitely a learning experience. It displayed the kind of work a person has to do to make a professional website and make sure it doesn't have little to no problems. Technically speaking, I learned how to add max widths so my banner does not shrink. This project reflected all that we have learned through the semester. The project deadline was kind of a killer as I almost ran of time and had to come after class to finish the project.
Same/Different: Although this project was a blast to create, there are some factors that I would do differently. One thing that I would differently is actually start from the template, instead of starting from scratch. I would also make sure I find a background big enough to not have to repeat. Everything else I would really keep the same, I loved how this website turned out.
Conclusions: Although stressful, this project was enjoyable. It was simple, however also a challenge. There are things I would want to change, but the as a whole, there isn't one thing I would transform.
