Wordpress.com vs. Wordpress.org

Wordpress is known to be a different way to make a new website. However, there two different types of Wordpress: Wordpress.COM and Wordpress.ORG.

Wordpress.org is the version that is used to create and host a website entirely. You deal with managing the server, paying for hosting and downloading the software. There is more flexibility that comes with this version, but also some major responsibility with this freedom. For example, the user gets to decide the domain name, install themes and plugins and other things, but managing and installing the website into the server can be very daunting.

Wordpress.com does all of the hosting for the user. All that needs to be done for this version is making the design look nice and appealing to the eye. While this is customizable, the user cannot take the Wordpress.com out of the URL, the user cannot upload any custom themes, plugins or modify the PHP code. Wordpress.com is free, but there are premium upgrades that can occur to get rid of some of the cons above, such as premium themes. This is more for the user that doesn't want to deal with the stress of managing their own server. There will also be ads that the user will not be paid for when using Wordpress.com. There can not be any addition of analytics to the website, such as Google Analytics.
