A Trip To Maya- Personal Blog

Scope: For this project, we had to create a film incorporating 3D-modeling, special effects, and Green screen. For our project, we had our character travel to the software Maya, after he touches a magical egg. He has to figure out a way to get out of Maya before the computer is shut down.

Process: This project was pretty time consuming and tedious. We, as a team, really had to think about what were going to do for this project. We had started out with thinking of the main idea. When we came up with that, we assigned the jobs. I was in charge of the special effects. I had to create the flash that would send our character to Maya, have him come back out, and then fade the screen to black. After we filmed, we had to piece together all of the elements into the film. The project came together nicely, except there were a few technical difficulties.

What I learned: I learned a few things during this project. I learned how to be patient with others, and not fall under pressure when something doesn't go right. I also learned how to make the cool special effect at the top. My favorite part of this experience was how the entire video came together, and fit like a puzzle.

Same/different: What I would keep the same is how well we incorporated Green Screen, special effect, and the 3D-object into our video. Although there were some glitches with the effects, and the 3D object, I thought it came together beautifully. However, I would have liked to split up the work a little bit better. There were times where some of our teammates were overworked, and other times where some didn't have enough work to do. It got very boring being so dependent on other team members.

Conclusion: Through many of the glitches we had, this project was very good learning experience. It taught me how to be patient with others, and how to collaborate with other people to form a well done product. I loved the concept we came up with for this project, and I had a lot of fun seeing it all come together.
