My Reflection: e-Communication
What I learned:
I learned how to create real life
objects in Maya and make them come to life.
I also learned how many drawings on my sketchpad could be scanned onto the
computer to be animated in our Robot and Story project. I became more social
with people that I normally would not talk to. I learned special effects to
make my projects become even more epic and fantastical in feeling. I learned
how even though I may think I have a ridiculous idea, it may perfect to others.
How I learned:
I learned these techniques through
several different ways. I learned most of the basic stuff, such as the
fundamentals of After Effects and Maya through our teacher. However, as we went
into more of the special effects, my way of learning was through YouTube
videos, especially for our final project, and Video Copilot for the two
explosions we did. We learned about some of the smaller projects we had through
PDFs that were posted on Google Classroom.
Importance:
I think the importance of these techniques will come in handy
when I am looking for a job. These projects really gave me a feel of the basic
skills needed to work in this field. It was important to know these techniques,
so in the future when they are expected, I will be able to perform well to my
coworkers and managers.
Strengths/improvements:
My biggest strengths for this class,
I think are my collaboration skills and my technical skills, as I am very good
with communicating my ideas to my classmates, and giving my input on things that
have been done well, or if something needs improvement. With that, my technical
skills are pretty good. I have a good grasp on how to work the software that
was used several times this year. I tend to figure out new software pretty
fast, and I try to help others using this skill.
However, my biggest weakness this
year was project management. I had difficulty turning in all my projects on
time, and making sure they had all the required elements needed. Along with my
projects, I had trouble remembering all my blogs that needed to be posted by
the end of the year. I have improved that by not just letting the project that
needs to be done just sit there; I would try to finish it when I had time.
Future
Changes:
I would
change how much effort I put into my projects. I felt that I didn’t try hard
enough with my work, and it really hurt my ethic and made me feel lazy. I want
to become more efficient in this field of work, and help others with my
knowledge of these skills that I possess.
Conclusion:
I felt that this year, although fun
and interesting, was kind of stressful. To balancing projects and blogs with other
schoolwork was a little too much for me. I didn’t see the point for the separate
blogs, unrelated to our projects.
